Prayer at St. Thomas
Prayer is foundational for our life together at St. Thomas and takes place in several different ways. We want to help you grow in prayer individually and for our church to grow in prayer together. This happens informally when folks from St. Thomas gather, at our Home Groups & Classes, on Wednesdays at Morning Prayer, and on Sunday Mornings. We also want to help you utilize the Book of Common Prayer in your own devotional life and as a resource for prayers for different joys, sorrows, and seasons that we face together. Be sure and visit the BCP section on our website and access the Prayer Links below. Families, we often will send out resources through St. Thomas Kids & St. Thomas Youth to help you pray as a household - especially during key liturgical seasons.
“Since then we have a great high priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Prayer Ministry
There are a variety of ways to receive prayer through St. Thomas.
General Requests - You can always send us a prayer request via e-mail. Let us know if this needs to remain confidential. Our clergy and leaders will pray for these requests and often lift them up together during staff meetings or at the Wednesday Morning Prayer Service.
STAC Prayer & Care - We have a GroupMe set up specifically for prayer and care needs. You can join and use this Group if you need prayer. We also encourage our members and leaders to join this Group so that we can intercede and be praying for you.
Sunday Services - During each of our Sunday Services a Prayer Team is available to pray for you or with you. This trained team is available in the Narthex / Lobby during the distribution of Holy Communion. If you would like to learn more about serving on this team, reach out to Deacon Tex Bagley.
Prayer Appointments - Each of our members is assigned to one of our Shepherds. You can always let them know about your prayer needs or setup a time to pray together. Here is a list of our Shepherds. If you don’t know who your Shepherd is or you aren’t a member, reach out to one of our clergy.
Pastoral Care / Reconciliation - Our clergy are always happy to meet with you in order to pray with you or offer pastoral counsel. You can set up an appointment with them individually. Their contact information is on the back of the service bulletin every week and on our staff page. There are some specific resources in the Prayer Book for Healing they can lead you through or for Confession / Reconciliation. In addition, our clergy can come out to your home for Home Blessings or to help you pray for specific needs.
