Groups and Classes

We gather for worship regularly & and meet throughout the week for formation in community

One phrase you will hear often around St. Thomas is all may, some should, none must. That is a great way to describe our Groups & Classes! In the past, we have really prioritized doing one thing at a time. As our church continues to mature and grow, we want to offer more varied opportunities for formation in community. This isn’t for the sake of busyness, but in order to better serve our growing young church and those the Lord is bringing into our midst. The idea is not for everybody to do everything, but for you to prayerfully look through this list and see what you should do this Fall.

Fall 2026 Groups

There are lots of Groups and gatherings happening this Fall!

One of the main options for all adults at St. Thomas are our Fall Home Groups. Starting after Labor Day, we will gather throughout the week in living rooms, backyards, and around dinning room tables. By discussing the Sunday readings and sermon, these groups will give us an opportunity to apply what we hear and participate in on Sunday to our daily lives.

As our church continues to grow, community groups provide an opportunity for individuals and families to continue growing spiritually and relationally.

You can sign up using this Google Form to participate in one of our Fall Home Groups and let us know if you would like to host and / or facilitate a group.

Coffee & Conversations - A Community Group specifically for ladies group that meets weekly for connection, in love and acceptance, to support each other in our daily walk with Christ. It is a special time of fellowship, prayer, reading the scripture and discussing the previous Sunday's sermon over a warm cup of coffee or tea. We have a weekly email forum of continued conversations to help keep us connected through our "Prayer & Praise" lists. Mainly, as our bonds have grown tighter, in spite of our various ages and backgrounds, there is much love and laughter each week. This is a Community Group meets on Thursday mornings at the Parish House (395 S. Church St. Athens, GA 30605) and is led by Frances Chapman, who also serves on our Shepherding Team. Reach out to Frances for more information.

Church Fathers Study - A Study Group specifically for men that meets on the 1st Monday every month from 7:45 pm - 9:15 pm at the Parish House (395 S. Church St. Athens, GA 30605). This group is led by Andreas Copan, who also serves on our Vestry. Reach out to Andreas for more information.
