Our Story

My wife Holly and I followed God’s leading into ministry straight out of college at the University of Georgia. I was on staff with Young Life and became interested in the Great Tradition of Christianity while earning a Masters of Theology at Dallas Theological Seminary. I joined the staff of Christ Church in Plano, TX and was ordained in 2009.

From the beginning of my ministry, I was involved with church planting as the first Executive Director of Anglican 1000 - an initiative of the Anglican Church in North America. I spent three years equipping leaders, organizing strategic events, and casting the vision to make church planting normal and expected for Anglicans. After my time with Anglican 1000, I served on the staff of Christ Church Plano as Vicar responsible for all day to day operations of a large, multi-staff Anglican parish under the leadership and guidance of the Rev. Canon David Roseberry.

In 2015, Holly and I found that we were being called back to North Georgia in order to be close to our families and to plant a new Anglican church in the strategic city of Athens. We’re thrilled to discover that others have been praying that God would call someone to plant an Anglican church in this diverse, university environment. It is clear that God is at work orchestrating a Gospel movement in the heart of Athens.

Vision

A Vibrant, Disciple-Making, Liturgical Church in Athens

Vision

A Vibrant, Disciple-Making, Liturgical Church in Athens

GOSPEL INCARNATION. GOSPEL PROCLAMATION. GOSPEL DEMONSTRATION.

You are more sinful and flawed than you ever dared believe, but more accepted and loved than you ever dared hope
— Tim Keller

The Gospel is the announcement that Jesus is Lord. It is deep, rich, and beautiful. It has cosmic implications and is intensely personal. As Tim Keller says, “you are more sinful and flawed than you ever dared believe, but more accepted and loved than you ever dared hope” because of the finished work of Christ on the Cross and his mighty resurrection through which all things are being made new and we are brought back into relationship with our Triune God. Through the Sacraments of the Church and the work of the Holy Spirit, the worshipping community is shaped into the image of Christ and sent on mission into the the midst of a skeptical culture in need of the Gospel faithfully embodied, clearly proclaimed, and joyfully demonstrated.

ANGLICAN CHURCH PLANTING

Anglican churches are uniquely equipped for ministry in an increasingly post-Christian and complex context like Athens. Our ancient-future faith has an ideal character as being accessible and engaging to culture, while being distinct enough to call it away to something scandalously better - new life in Christ. We want to reach the next generation of leaders, creatives, students, professionals, and families. Our community will represent Athens as a multi-generational, multi-ethnic collection of people following King Jesus. Empowered by the Spirit, we will joyfully do the work that God has given us to do.

ATHENS IS BOOMING, WHY NOT THE CHURCH?

Athens is considered an intellectual and cultural center for the state of Georgia. This highly-educated, diverse area is booming with young professionals, families and college students; music and arts; new businesses and homes. Over 150,000 people reside in the Athens area including over 30,000 college students. Despite all of this growth less than 35% of the population is strongly involved in the Christian faith. As the city continues to increase in size and influence, we have a vision to build for the kingdom of God by planting a vibrant, intergenerational, liturgical church where we make disciples of all ages and have the opportunity to invite the next generation into a mature, adult faith.
